I'll see MAMA MIA at the Prince of Wales Theater and Take That at Wembley Stadium in July, and I want is to book a London hotel, both of central importance. Also as a living part of this is my first friend in London.

Try some of the big hotel chains - Radison / Days Inn / Lodge Travelers / Hilton etc.
Mamma Mia is situated between Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus, where close to Wembley, in Middlesex, not really at all in the middle of the city. The best way to and from Wembley is either tube (Bakerloo or Jubilee line next) or by train, the train station to Marylebone can be quieter, but a step. There are indications that increasing the stage when the tube.
That is, you could next to a subway station, but preferably on the Bakerloo line, because it is both Wembley and Piccadilly Circus.
